We as Royal Rubbish Recyclers want to make recycling as “EASY” as possible by

1. The “one bin approach” (all your recycling material can be placed mixed in one bag).
2. Bringing recycling to your home by providing a collection service at you’re doorstep the same day as refuse day.

WHY RECYCLE THIS WAY?

The Department of Environmental Affairs stipulated in their Waste Management Strategy to prioritise the policy approach of separation at source. Separation at source can be explained as the separation of recyclables from other waste at source of origination. Better explained as, recyclables that no longer go to the landfill sites but be separated from the waste by the consumer.

This is preferable since items such as paper will no longer be suitable for recycling if deposited at the landfill. Furthermore the degree of contamination and exposure to sun reduces the recyclables dramatically from being recycled as a sustainable alternative to raw material input.

Company Background

Royal Rubbish Recyclers operate in the Hartbeespoort area. We collect (mainly at estates) and separate the recycling into categories and then deliver it to the depot where it will be recycled.

The founder started the business by recycling at home and found it difficult to sustain the sorting and delivering to the ‘bin’ process, due to the vast amount of recyclables in her waste bin weekly. She researched the best possible process to achieve the optimal ‘easiness’ category to sustain her venture and eventually come up with this solution: The ‘one bin approach’.  You put all recyclables in the same bag which is picked up on the same day refuge day.  She enrolled this approach in her own residential estate with such great participation that she decided this could provide a solution to other recycling eager estates.

Since  then the company has been assisting various institutions and estates to achieve their environmental goals of recycling and compliance with ISO 14001. Some of these would include Xanadu Nature Estate, The Coves Residential Estate and NviroTek Labs (Suid-Wes Landbou).

Most people want to make a difference in the environment and contribute toward a more sustainable future for the next generation but doing this is often too much of an effort. We as company make this simple lifestyle adjustment obtainable by our approach and services as our average 72% participation in estates prove to be true.
